This camera, the Canon S2IS is pretty amazing. I needed a camera that had high resolution, but mostly good image quality and a flip screen. I really wanted a SLR but none of them offer the flip screen. Why a flip screen? Because short guys like me are always standing behind tall guys!! The flip screen allows me to but the camera above my head and shoot.

This camera is downright awesome, I can't wait to see what they will come up with next.

Features-

Optical Image Stabilization- This cuts the shaky and out of focus photos. We have it on our Canon Video Camera and this one is similar.

10 Power Zoom!!- This thing really gets out there! At Oshkosk I turned digital and optical zoom on to get an incredible 42 Power Zoom! Optical zoom is the best (10x) as it is really magnified. Digital zoom just magnifies digitally the image you have. But if you need the shot- You get it. I got the Harrison Ford and Burt Rutan shots from 1/4 to 1/2 mile away because of the crowd!!

SD Memory- I wasn't convinced, now I am a believer. This card cost $70 and is 1 Gigabyte! I don't have to change cards all day!

Movies- This camera believe it or not gives pretty good movies at 640 x 480 resolution. In other words, the movies are pretty big and nice. I can see the day when you don't need a movie camera. If you have a big card and a camera like this, you have all the tools in one place.

Cost- Believe it or not- $499. That is a steal! I spent over $1000 on my G1 and years ago spent $800 on the first camera I used for the K300.

Ease of use- They got this right! It just makes sense. One feature I especially like is the Camera/Read feature. In most cameras I have used, you have to move a switch to go from shoot to preview. In this camera you have to move the switch to preview, but if you push the shutter button, it automatically moves to shoot and takes the shot.

Speed- Again, the fastest camera I have even used! I keep the camera by me while I am driving and it is under 3 seconds from power up to shoot.
